skin and ink

it's entirely possible that this movie, the tattooist, (first read about it on needled) will suck. but i care not. because jason behr looks so totally hot with his fake tattoos. whatever fetish this is - being sexually attracted to the tattooed - i have it.

needled!

yay! lots of fun was had at the party for the relaunch of needled.com... i met marisa, the foxy redhaired lawyer and editor, plus the lizardman and some other new friends. stephen and workhorse joined the fun. plus: giftbags! can't wait to rock my needled t-shirt.

you have to believe we are magic

back in new york... back in the swing of things.

sunday night, 10 pm: i went directly from newark airport to puffy's tavern in tribeca to hang out at the premiere party with the creative team behind superjail, a new show on adultswim. great guys. *love* those guys. then monday was king tee's birthday, and even though we were frenemies for a while, i attended his lovely dinner party at casa de workhorse.

i've been reading a lot lately. thick fantastical novels back to back.

the alienist - psychological thriller set in seedy turn of the century new york - lots of scenes happen in my neighborhood, on streets i walk down all the time. B+
the electric michelangelo - lush, weird, gorgeously written tale of a boy who grows up by the sea in england and later becomes a tattoo artist in coney island, new york. some passages were so beautiful they literally hurt. A
water for elephants - a 93 year old man in a nursing home recalls his younger days, when he hopped a boxcar on what turned out to be a circus train. rubes, first of may, roustabouts, cooch tent, kinkers - all this colorful circus lingo, plus a mystery and a love affair... B-
the vintner's luck - one night in 1808 in burgundy, france, a drunken grape grower faints and is caught by an angel. he thinks it's divine intervention, but the angel is not what he seems. bizarre, sensual, tragic, erotic, it raises more questions than it answers. B+

if anyone has any book recommendations, please let me know. i like drama, romance, beauty, strangeness, the unexpected, florid/vivid prose, vampires, angels, sex, heartbreak, humor, glitter, glamor, grime, freaks, etc.

track of the day: olivia newton-john - magic (thanks, poo.)

you have to believe we are magic
nothin' can stand in our way
you have to believe we are magic
don't let your aim ever stray
and if all your hopes survive
your destiny will arrive
i'll bring all your dreams alive
for you

track of the night: dirty pretty things - you fucking love it

going to the needled relaunch party tonight... should be fun!

track of the day: a.f.i. - kiss and control

we all want to die like movie stars
you said as you jumped from the height of our cutting room floor
while above us, glowing, exploding,
our dreams burst forth in light and death
hold me and tell me we'll burn like stars
we'll burn as we fall
watch as city lights dance for us

if you know me, or read this blog regularly, there are two things i really love: tattoos and jewelry.

so obviously i'm gonna love tattooed jewelry from tattooed steel.

seer, sucker!

soho grand - yard

soho grand - yard: make it happen

striped bartenders

soho grand yard

soho grand yard - fred schneider of the B 52s

last night i had lovely outdoor cocktails in the yard at the soho grand.

an older dude in a seersucker suit was playing records and speaking into the microphone.

"donald sutherland is in the house!" he said. and later, "kate moss is in the house!"

um, huh? what? i did see fred schneider and david hershkovits. as i was leaving i stopped at the door and asked the young skinny black guy in a skinny black v neck and skinny black jeans, "is kate moss here?"

skinny black guy laughed, "no, that guy is a joker."

i made it home in time to watch project runway.

oh! but before drinks, i had a mostly delicious salad at lucky strike, and i was prompted to write the following letter:

dear endive,

i don't like your attitude. take your bitterness somewhere else.

love,
me

good news.

the most beautifullest thing in the world:
it wasn't my camera that was broken, it was just a damaged memory card.

so i'm back in business, photographically speaking.

as we all know, i am watching r2 while my sister is away.
shopping for dog food and dog treats is very interesting...
in duane reade the dog food is next to the pesticide.
in rite aid, the dog food is next to the baby food.

anywho, i totally dropped a few $$ at trixie and peanut... shh.

big girl, for sure you still fine...

tee party

so for my birthday i had a tee party on the roof of the delancey.
everyone brought a t-shirt they weren't in love with anymore, and hung it up on the clothesline i provided. then you could feel free to take a shirt that appealed to you. a t-shirt swap! we also played connect four and drank. a lot.

afterwards we ended up at crudo on clinton street, which is always my regal beagle. and sunday it was tsuyoshi's birthday, so there was a champagne-fueled brunch at the boathouse in central park followed by a leisurely stroll through the park to bergdorf goodman and more bottles of champagne at BG. later that day i had another birthday party in battery park city. geminis never sleep.

last night i had an amazing/bizarre experience at the delancey, for KRACK ATTACK, the new CD (and vinyl!) from cx kidtronik. it was punk rap, with moshing and people rhyming while wearing masks and monster gloves. experimental, noisy, avant garde, lots of fun. my new fave song is from KRACK ATTACK. big girl, in a skinny girl outfit... big girl, on a table eating twelve steaks, skinny girl, steady throwing up on dinner plates...

i highly recommend you listen to cx kidtronik's "big girl skinny girl" RIGHT NOW.
