bullseye!

over the weekend, my friend rachael and i had blueberry pancakes, then joined the 6 million other people at the new target in brooklyn. it was kind of like some bizarre anthropological experiment. everyone had one eye on the reasonably priced merchandise and the other on the mixed-bag crowd. the brooklyn kids were mesmerized by the shopping-cart only escalator (so was i) and i actually heard a woman pick up something and say, "it has a matte finish! that's nice."

bullseye!

yeah, i can't tell you the cultural disconnect i feel when i go to the end of my brownstone and tree-lined block in ft. greene and enter the target 2 blocks away. I mean, target used to be the coveted trip i made when i visited my mom, and stocked up on ob tampons. Now what do i do when i go back to north carolina? When I enter the target in Brooklyn I get very confused as to where I am (geographically speaking).
