petal pushers.

it's no secret i love wearing flowers in my hair.
but sometimes you have to switch it up!

lately i've been wearing a giant pink bow from ban.do and alternating with a sequin heart headband from ban.do.

but i think i want to transition something bigger, more dramatic. think diadems, halos and crowns!

for instance:
something like the juliet halo
or the maenad ram headdress
except maybe too hippie chick? maybe i'd have to fight ke¢ha for them?

how about this one? timeless, neutral, goes with everything…

mcqueen is dead, long live mcqueen

I'm pretty sad about alexander mcqueen's death. i wrote something here and here. i regret not buying all the things he made that i really wanted to buy, including the damn skull scarf. i hate that being a creative visionary so often goes hand-in-hand with being tortured. and i'm sad that whatever future projects he and gaga were cooking up won't come to fruition. today sucked.

janelle monae in teen vogue

teen vogue continues to be way more fun and way more diverse than vogue. i don't care that i am twice the age a teen vogue reader should be.

anyways, janelle monae is adorable.

the GFF models will hurt you and you will enjoy it

maybe you heard that italian designer gianfranco ferré* died. i recently visited his website. steel yourself and check it out:

gianfrancoferre.com

for the spring/summer ad campaign, not only is GFF using a black (!) model, she's not the light-skinned, wilting flower you so often see. she's dark-skinned, with a strong jaw, a haughty, "wtf you looking at" royal expression, and you get the feeling she could - and would like to - kick your ass. she's accessorized by a sexy terrorist who clearly does her bidding. together they paint a seductively threatening picture that made me forget why i went to the site in the first place (just admiring the sunglasses, your majesty, may i be excused?)

*(gianfranco ferré is like, such a sexy name! it begs to be whispered in the dark on a yacht in the mediterranean... gianfranco? ferré!).

all about the hamiltons, baby.

it's been a while since i did anyting SHOPPING related, maybe because i am broke, haha.

but srsly folks. it's hard to feel fresh for spring when you're wearing the same old shitty winter clothes.

seen some delicious stuff on the interwebs lately, please allow me to share:

shoplifter bag from a plus r store.

junkie fit leopard jeans from lip service... i'm always trying to break up my cardigan + jeans uniform, this might be a good way to start. they're kind of van halen/lita ford/ridick, but i feel like with sneakers and a slinky black top, you're ready for fun. party in my pants!

80s splatter glasses from fred flare, i totally had something like this in 6th grade. perfect for your next rave event.

silver mini dress by steve madden. they make dresses, who knew? wear over jeans now, then with silver flat sandals when it gets warm for that "i have a better party to go to later" look.

purple striped hoodie with zip-off hood, by fallen skateboard co. - also cute in blue/black and black/white....

slinky black dress, for work or play.... by bread and butter (at girlshop).

bird skull necklace by arms and armory (available at caravan.) silver and freaky psuedo goth, soooooo up my alley.

just as an aside:

wouldn't the world be interesting if more boys dressed like this? (via facehunter.)

le futur, c'est maintenant

orchard street

le futur, c'est maintenant!

thank zeus we're about to be done with retro.

carine roitfeld knows. balenciaga is doing it, my adidas are there. the march issue of bazaar has a metallic story shot by peter lindbergh that has *robots* in it. THE FUTURE IS NOW! get your techno fabrics ready and set your phasers to stun.

speaking of carine roitfeld, i saw this on f.a.d. - french vogue vs. american vogue. which one looks hip, fresh, fun, new, fashion-y to you?

cobalt is the new fuchsia

some highlights so far from fashion week; animal rights activists need not apply. fur, leather, glamour.

so - the looks. here's how i judge:
is it foxy? could it get me hired, fired, punched, propositioned?
if yes, then i want it.

role reversal

kimora lee simmons, originally uploaded by chillbill.

in a dramatic twist of events, my brother went to fashion show last night and i went to a knicks game.

there i was, sitting in my luxury box drinking free beer and watching stephon marbury - swapping text messages with my bro : he'd send "vikram in the house" and i'd send "spike lee." then he sent "paris" and i sent "knicks win." he's got more pix here, i got nothin. sometimes it beez like that.

cuckoo couture

it's that time again. fashion fashion fashion!

hits from the paris couture shows:

DIOR

garden party girls and geishas.

like costumes from a late 40s movie in which an american heiress moves to kyoto and goes insane.

go go galliano!

GAULTIER

this show is best summed up by the pop rock poets of our generation, the red hot chili peppers.

the song?
catholic school girls rule!

In the class she's taking notes
Just how deep deep is my throat
Mother Mary don't you know
She's got eyes like Marylin Monroe

Catholic school girls rule!

From the cross she's raised her head
This is what the sister said
Give no love until you're wed
Live no life until you're dead

The good book says we must suppress
The good book says we must confess
But who cares what the good book says
Cause now she's taking off her dress

Catholic school girls rule!

Lead us into temptation
We are pure divine creation
Talkin about my generation
Injected with the seed of emaculation
Catholic!
