yes, there was some drinking and dancing this weekend. i am powerless to resist.
what else?
i used to work in midtown and spend a lot of time there, but not anymore. and so when i find myself in midtown i am surprised at how pretty, glassy and monumental it can be.
i haven't been to see the basquiat show yet, but the art i've enjoyed so far this year has been tim hawskinson at the whitney and the damien hirst show at the gagosian. there's a lot of hype around him, and people got all worked up over the shark and the dead cow and whatnot, but it' simple: dude can paint. even though there were crack smokers and bloody car crashes and medical scenarios, my mom liked it too.
hopefully i'll make it to basquiat next weekend.
{meanwhile. the weather is preparing itself. it's almost time for me to bust out my bike.}

i tried posting a comment yesterday, to no avail.
by now i've already written what i had to say (and to link) on new-art.blogspot.com
"but it' simple: dude can paint"
....I don't think so !
Hate to give you a reality-check, but ALL "his" paintings where painted by 25 different studio artists just mainly based on photo's of his earlier works.
The only thing he did was varnish them (so he claimed).
"Dude can't paint to save his life" trust me.
