i took my very first swing lesson last night.
i've been wanting to take swing for a while, even though it's so '96.
because when i listen to the music - and i love the music - all i want to do is dance.
and i don't know how to dance properly.
but it was my new year's resolution to stop thinking and start acting,
and now i can do the basic step, a right turn and a left turn.
soon i'll be able to do a little bit of lindy hop and jitterbug, too.
my instructor is so totally retro and adorable, with his slicked back hair and sailor jerry tattoos.
i had so much fun in class, then i came home and practiced, dancing to keely smith singing what is this thing called love?
oh! and another good one: i want you to be my baby by louis jordan.
i'm carrying a torch for you

I love reading your blog! I used to live on Norfolk back in the day, like in '83. You have the right attitude about getting up and getting OUT to do stuff. Easier said than done, but you took the first step. I'm still working on the getting UP part...
